POSITION/TITLE: Procurement Engineer

DEPARTMENT: Purchasing

REPORTS TO: Director of R&D/Procurement

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

Develop polymeric products and their related processes
Support research, development and production in incorporating absorbers, dyes and other additives into polymers through analysis and empirical means to meet customer specifications
Troubleshoot chemical interactions during processing (e.g. molding, extrusion, additives) and lab-scale reactions
Interaction with customers, vendors, and technical organizations to understand needs, create structured development processes, and implement product solutions
Evaluate product performance and quality using various means
Prepare compounding batches, develop new batches, adjust existing batches and validate specifications
Participate in formulation and testing of products including stability testing
Participate in the color matching process and provide creative ideas of color application
Conduct related lab tests, assist in out-of-specs investigations or audits when necessary
Documentation of all trials run along with critical parameters into a readily accessible, easy to use environment
Understanding of analytical equipment related to chemical reactions
Communicate and disseminate information to peers and customers
Schedule flexibility to support critical deadlines may be required.
Purchasing of raw materials
Inventory management
Strong negotiation skills in the areas of: contracts, logistics, invoicing and pricing

JOB SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

Minimum B.S. degree Chemistry Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Materials Science, Plastics Engineering, Polymer Science, Physical Sciences or related field is desired or equivalent education and experience
4year college graduate with a degree in Supply Chain Management
Highly organized and detail oriented
Strong communication skills
International business acumen

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Minimum B.S. degree Chemistry Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Materials Science, Plastics Engineering, Polymer Science, Physical Sciences or related field is desired or equivalent education and experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Physical requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting, bending, stooping, walking, light lifting, climbing stairs, manual dexterity, direct exposure to heat and safety hazards associated with production environment, and computer operation.
