The Director of Procurement is responsible for overseeing the sourcing, purchasing, and negotiation of Hill’s direct materials across the globe. This role demands strategic thinking, strong negotiation skills, and a deep understanding of market dynamics to optimize procurement strategies and drive cost efficiencies. Part of the director of procurement responsibilities includes leading the procurement team in developing and implementing strategies aligned with the organization’s goals and objectives. You will be responsible for managing vendor relationships, negotiating contracts, and identifying cost-saving opportunities. The position will supervise 3 procurement professionals.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimize cost savings and operational efficiency.

Identify and evaluate potential vendors and suppliers based on quality, price, and reliability.

Negotiate contracts and agreements with vendors to secure favorable terms and conditions.

Oversee the procurement process, including requisition, sourcing, purchasing, and delivery.

Facilitate Supplier Relationship Management through development and tracking of KPI’s; establishes collaborative environment with key suppliers and business partners to optimize supplier performance and innovation

Build and maintain relationships with key business functions and vendors; must be skilled at influencing and change management at all levels of the organization

Stay abreast of market trends, economic factors, and regulatory changes that may impact procurement

Develop and deliver presentations and reports for senior leaders relative to business objectives and performance

Procurement KPI Tracking and Reporting

Lead and mentor the procurement team, providing guidance and support to achieve departmental goals.

Required Qualifications

At least 10 years of successful track record within procurement and supply chain management

Proven direct procurement experience

Previous people management experience

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree in Business Administration or Supply Chain Management

Experience in procurement within food or pet food industry

Strong negotiation skills

Excellent analytical abilities

Experience with financial analysis and modeling

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range $151,200.00 - $189,000.00 USD

Pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Salaried employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing, and long-term incentives for Executive-level roles.

Benefits: Salaried employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance, paid parental leave, disability coverage, and participation in the 401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements. Additional benefits include a minimum of 15 vacation/PTO days (hourly employees receive a minimum of 120 hours) and 13 paid holidays (vacation days are prorated based on the employee's hire date within the calendar year). Paid sick leave is adjusted based on role and location in accordance with local laws. Detailed information regarding paid sick leave entitlements will be provided to employees upon hiring and may be subject to adjustments based on changes in legislation or company policies.
