Procurement Specialist

The Sourcing Specialist – Energy Systems supports project‑based sourcing activities for customized and semi‑engineered power solutions, including generator packaging, custom fabrication, transfer switches, docking stations, and related balance‑of‑plant components. This role partners closely with Project Management and regional Energy Systems sales teams to ensure responsive, cost‑effective, and reliable sourcing execution in support of customer projects.

While based in Sussex, Wisconsin, this position will work extensively with Energy Systems regional sales offices in Texas, the Northeast, and the West Coast, requiring strong communication, flexibility, and comfort supporting geographically distributed stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Support project‑based sourcing for Energy Systems customer solutions, including fabricated components, packaged enclosures, transfer switches, docking stations, and ancillary equipment.
• Partner with regional sales teams to support customer‑specific projects, from early opportunity development through order execution.
• Identify, evaluate, and engage suppliers capable of supporting custom and low‑to‑mid volume engineered solutions with varying technical and schedule requirements.
• Request, analyze, and negotiate supplier quotations to meet cost, lead time, quality, and delivery objectives.
• Collaborate with Engineering to align sourcing strategies with technical requirements, drawings, and specifications.
• Work closely with Operations and Project Management to support on‑time material availability and manage supply risk for active projects.
• Support supplier onboarding, capability assessments, and ongoing supplier performance management for Energy Systems applications.
• Maintain sourcing documentation, pricing records, and supplier data in accordance with internal processes.

Cross‑Functional & Regional Collaboration

• Act as a sourcing partner to Energy Systems regional sales offices in: Texas, Northeast, and West Coast
• Serve as a key interface between Sales and Supply Chain to support customer commitments, quotations, and project timelines.
• Participate in cross‑functional project reviews to proactively identify and mitigate sourcing risks.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3+ years of experience in sourcing, procurement, or supply chain, preferably in engineered‑to‑order, project‑based, or industrial equipment environments.
• Experience sourcing fabricated components, electromechanical assemblies, or custom industrial equipment strongly preferred.
• Strong negotiation, cost analysis, and supplier management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced, customer‑driven environment.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with sales, engineering, and operations teams across regions.
• Comfortable working with ambiguity and evolving project requirements.

Travel

• Periodic travel to regional sales offices, suppliers, and manufacturing locations as needed.

The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
