The Supply Chain Specialist supports sourcing and purchasing activities across direct and indirect categories. This role focuses on strong operational execution, supplier coordination, and data-driven decision support while developing deeper sourcing and negotiation capabilities. This is an ideal role for a supply chain professional who can independently manage day-to-day procurement while growing into broader sourcing ownership.

About The Role
The Supply Chain Specialist supports sourcing and purchasing activities across direct and indirect categories. This role focuses on strong operational execution, supplier coordination, and data-driven decision support while developing deeper sourcing and negotiation capabilities. This is an ideal role for a supply chain professional who can independently manage day-to-day procurement while growing into broader sourcing ownership.
What You'll Do
Direct & Indirect Procurement Execution
- Process purchase requisitions and generate purchase orders in ERP/MRP systems.
- Manage day-to-day supplier communications for both production materials and indirect services.
- Support RFQ processes by collecting, organizing, and evaluating vendor proposals.
- Track open orders to ensure timely delivery aligned with production schedules and business needs.
- Negotiate pricing and lead times within defined authority limits and escalate complex negotiations as needed.
- Administer assigned indirect procurement programs (e.g., MRO, facilities services, office supplies, lab consumables, travel-related vendors, etc.).
- Monitor spend against budget and identify cost-saving opportunities within assigned categories.
- Ensure vendors meet service level expectations and contractual obligations.
- Partner with Finance and department leaders to forecast demand and improve cost predictability.
- Maintain vendor agreements, renewals, and documentation to ensure compliance and audit readiness.
- Conduct market research and pricing analysis to support sourcing decisions.
- Assist with supplier onboarding and qualification processes.
- Track supplier performance metrics (cost, quality, on-time delivery).
- Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Facilities, and Finance to align procurement decisions with business priorities.
- Maintain accurate procurement data to support reporting, cost tracking, and audits.
- Follow and help improve standardized procurement processes, templates, and controls.
- Identify gaps and recommend process improvements that enhance scalability and spend visibility.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience supporting direct material sourcing and/or managing indirect spend categories.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple categories and internal stakeholders simultaneously.
- ERP/MRP system experience.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable in a fast-paced growth environment.
- Experience in a start-up or high-growth manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with industrial equipment or advanced materials categories.
- Exposure to cost analysis and supplier performance management.
- Salary: $85,000 - $110,000 annually, depending on education, experience and skills
