Supply Chain Director
MSI ExpressROLE PURPOSE/ POSITION SUMMARY
The Supply Chain Director is responsible for the strategy, planning, implementation and day-to-day execution of the supply chain business plan. The SCD plans, executes and evaluates large scale objectives to become the industry leader in supply chain performance. The SCD will utilize “big picture” leadership and management success, operate with a sense of urgency, adopt a start-up mentality and constantly drive best-in-class thinking with our customer mission in focus. This person will work, as a member of the leadership team, on developing and implementing company inventory strategy to manage working capital and to meet customer service requirements. This will include organizational design and resourcing, as well as defining the relevant KPIs. This role includes active engagement with a decentralized team of approximately 50 supply planning & purchasing employees today, ensuring feasible, high-quality schedules and having the required materials on-hand to meet those schedules. The team’s activities will be driven by KPIs such as customer fill rates and on-time delivery, material availability, excess and obsolescence, working capital, and various vendor performance metrics. Additionally, this person will coach and guide the organization in determining root causes of inventory imbalances, resolving them and developing process and reporting improvements to prevent recurrence.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop a strategic plan to lead the transformation of existing supply chain and to build a team that will deliver and execute on the supply chain mission
- Develop, deploy, and maintain master scheduling best practices, ensuring schedules are feasible in terms of plant capacity and raw material; maximizing plant efficiencies and profitability; optimizing customer service levels, meeting days on hand targets, and minimizing obsolescence
- Develop inventory targets and the requirements to meet those targets, at both the site and enterprise levels
- Collaborate with Warehouse operations to drive inventory accuracy and robust inventory management processes
- Develop and articulate fact-based analytical approach to forecast decisions, monitor results and action necessary forecasting and deployment adjustments with exceptional change agility
- Create and drive a planning review cadence with customers and operations to ensure all constraints and requirements are captured and incorporated in production schedules
- Leverage current and future planning systems and capabilities to evolve planning practices
- Leverage master data that helps drive high-quality master production schedules and deployment plans, developing processes that maintain master data integrity
- Drive continuous improvement in the overall planning and procurement process
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and supervision to the Supply and Procurement Planners
- Lead teams in performing analyses to determine root cause of inventory imbalances, develop and manage ongoing raw supply requirements and recommend appropriate changes to resolve supply imbalances
- Ensure phase in/phase out for new and discontinued items are executed with minimum risks
- Review, interpret and communicate the output of the capacity and inventory models to create effective master and finite planning schedules
- Manage and monitor day-to-day purchasing activities to ensure healthy inventory levels are maintained
- Analyze inventories to determine how to increase inventory turns, reduce waste, or optimize customer service
- As needed, negotiate prices and terms with suppliers and where possible, consolidate spend
- Measure supplier performance and hold them accountable for quality and service performance Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS/ CAPABILITY PROFILE
Minimum Education
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, engineering, or similar fields preferred
- MBA degree desired
- APICS certification desired
Minimum Experience
- 10+ years of experience in supply chain planning and inventory management
- Preference for past contract manufacturing experience
- Preference for experience in food industry
- Experience in a high-growth and dynamic environment

- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and interact collaboratively, working with multiple partners to resolve exceptions and collaborate on best alternatives
- Strong analytical skills – ability to analyze, understand, and execute business decisions based on large amounts of complex, quantitative data
