Job overview and responsibilities

The New Fleet Procurement team is part of the Finance organization and plays a strategic role in executing United’s long-term fleet plan. The group negotiates aircraft acquisition agreements, pricing, and purchase terms with aircraft manufacturers, and drives alignment on aircraft configurations, specifications, and delivery schedules. The team manages purchase agreement documentation and the end-to-end integration of new aircraft into the fleet, partnering closely with Technical Operations, Network Planning, FP&A, Accounting, Legal, Corporate Finance, and Fleet Analysis to ensure each new aircraft program is delivered efficiently and in line with contractual, financial, and operational objectives.

The Manager – Fleet Procurement role supports the Senior Manager of New Fleet Procurement and is responsible for managing United’s aircraft delivery stream and maintaining the delivery forecast. This role coordinates with OEMs and internal stakeholders to track milestones, documentation, and payments; monitors delivery delays vs. purchase agreements and actively tracks and resolves configuration issues and production issues. The role emphasizes exceptional organization, deadline control, and process discipline—owning trackers, cadences, and recurring tasks that keep delivery execution on schedule—while contributing to ad hoc analysis, reporting, and continuous improvement of delivery management processes. This position is Chicago-based, hybrid and will require 2-3 days in office weekly.

  • Manage and maintain United’s aircraft delivery skyline, coordinating with internal stakeholders and OEMs to ensure accurate delivery forecasts and milestone tracking
  • Monitor and analyze aircraft delivery performance versus purchase agreements, including production progress, delivery delays, and customization issues
  • Oversee cross-functional alignment among Aircraft Induction Engineering, Network Planning, FP&A, Accounting, Corporate Finance and OEM teams to ensure readiness for each aircraft induction
  • Manage recurring deliverables, approvals, and payments related to aircraft deliveries (e.g., pre-delivery payments, delivery documentation, and capital forecast updates)
  • Maintain and improve internal processes, tools, and documentation for aircraft delivery management, ensuring strong organizational control and accountability
  • Develop ad-hoc analyses and reporting to support aircraft program status, capital planning, and delivery risks
