About NextDecade Corporation – NextDecade is committed to providing the world with reliable, lower carbon energy through safe and efficient development of natural gas liquefaction and carbon capture and storage infrastructure. Reporting to the VP of Supply Chain, the Senior Manager, SCM will lead, manage, and develop a team responsible for strategic contracting and procurement. This role requires deep expertise in the full contract lifecycle, strong leadership, stakeholder management, and analytical thinking to drive measurable results.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead contracting and procurement execution by defining and executing the strategic vision, direction, and annual objectives in line with NextDecade’s vision and the NextDecade Way.
- Manage, mentor, coach, and upskill the team while ensuring compliance with Company Governance.
- Establish and maintain key metrics, performance criteria, and KPIs, proactively identifying value leakage and delivering cost avoidance strategies.
- Collaborate with business owners and SMEs to deliver measurable results and value.
- Establish and nourish relationships with key stakeholders to understand and anticipate business demand and priorities.
- Develop and execute a strategic contracting and procurement portfolio with key suppliers.
- Serve as the SCM subject matter expert in drafting, negotiating, and reviewing contract language, mitigating risk with minimal Legal support.
- Manage supplier risk monitoring and lead major and critical contracts’ negotiation processes.
- Oversee post-award contract administration, tracking deliverables, obligations, and milestones to ensure compliance and performance.
- Contribute to the development of standard contract templates, playbooks, and process improvements that enhance contract management practices.
- Conduct periodic reviews of team activities to ensure business requirements are met and policies are followed, making data-driven decisions when needed.
- Manage and allocate resources to maximize team efficiency and meet business requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- 15+ years of experience in contracting and procurement.
- Proven ability to work in a dynamic team environment with excellent negotiation, oral, and written communication skills.
- Strong people skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally, demonstrating strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Deep understanding of contract law and procurement principles.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant Supply Chain certifications such as CPSM, CCCM, CPCM, CSCP, MCIPS, WCC, or others.
