The Role

The Global Material Planning Team at Moderna is seeking a highly analytical and automation-driven Co-Op to help modernize how we plan materials across our global network.

As a Material Planning & AI Co-Op, you will work at the intersection of supply chain, data, and automation. You will support the transformation of our planning processes by developing automated tools, AI-enabled workflows, and scalable data solutions that improve decision-making, visibility, and efficiency across the material planning function.

This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience applying AI and automation within a global biotech supply chain environment. This position will run from July 13th-December 11th, 2026.

Here's What You'll Do

  • Design and implement automated solutions to improve material planning processes, reducing manual work and increasing decision speed.
  • Develop and deploy GPT-based tools and AI agents to support planners in areas such as safety stock refresh analysis, lead time validation, inventory risk identification, and KPI commentary generation.
  • Build and automate weekly and monthly planning KPIs using tools such as Excel, Tableau, Power BI, Python, Chat GPT or SAP data extracts.
  • Support development of scalable methodologies for maintaining planning master data
  • Analyze large datasets to identify trends, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Procurement, Finance, and Site Planning to translate business needs into digital solutions.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and digital-first thinking.
  • Lead a defined automation or AI pilot project from concept to implementation.

Here's What You'll Need (Basic Qualifications)

  • Current student enrolled in a Bachelors or Masters program in Supply Chain, Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, Economics/Finance, or related field.
  • Foundational understanding of supply chain processes (demand planning, S&OP, MRP, inventory management, procurement, etc.).
  • Strong analytical skills with experience working with structured data.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with data visualization tools.

  • This position is site-based, requiring you to be at Moderna's site full-time. This position is not eligible for remote work.

Here's What You'll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience with Python, Power Automate, SQL, Co Pilot or other automation tools
  • Familiarity with SAP, IBP, MRP logic, or ERP systems.
  • Exposure to AI tools (LLMs, prompt engineering, GPT development, or workflow automation).
  • Experience building dashboards, data models, or automated reports.
  • Demonstrated curiosity about applying AI to real-world business problems.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and comfort working with ambiguity.
  • Ability to translate data into clear insights and recommendations.
  • Collaborative mindset and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly on the job and work under deadlines with minimal oversight.

The salary range for this role is $20.00 - $60.00. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An individual's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, and business or organizational needs.

The successful candidate may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, other incentive compensation, or equity award, subject to company plan eligibility criteria and individual performance.
