Procurement Sourcing Specialist (Professional – Sourcing/Procurement)
Location: Cary, NC or New York City, NY (Hybrid – In office 3 days/week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday))
About the Role
As a Procurement Sourcing Specialist, you will support indirect procurement categories across multiple Lines of Business, with a primary focus on Professional Services (e.g., management consulting, financial services, audit, risk) and IT (e.g., SaaS, cloud services, IT consulting). You will partner closely with senior stakeholders to drive strategic sourcing initiatives and deliver measurable business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with business stakeholders to develop and execute category management and sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives
- Lead sourcing events, including RFx processes and complex, high-value negotiations
- Manage stakeholder relationships to ensure alignment between procurement initiatives and business needs
- Analyze spend data to identify cost savings, efficiency improvements, and risk mitigation opportunities
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies, procedures, and applicable regulations
- Apply market intelligence and benchmarking to achieve optimal negotiation outcomes
- Serve as the primary point of contact for supplier-related issues and lead resolution efforts
- Stay current on industry trends and best practices relevant to assigned categories
- Support broader strategic procurement initiatives as required
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in indirect procurement, including category management and sourcing
- Hands-on experience leading RFP/RFx and competitive sourcing events
- Experience supporting large, enterprise-level organizations
- Proven experience negotiating IT software and Professional Services contracts (mix of IT and non-IT sourcing)
- Experience working within a globally distributed procurement team
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including advanced Excel and experience with BI tools (e.g., PowerBI)
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage and influence VP-level stakeholders
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Experience across both Professional Services and IT procurement categories
- Familiarity with procurement orchestration tools, Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) systems, and Ariba
