Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT) is a provider of cutting-edge cloud-based integration, automated testing, and data analysis for complex, mission-critical systems in the US Department of Defense (DOD). The Procurement Associate will be responsible for procuring equipment, material, services, and products in accordance with established processes, procedures, and CPSR requirements. Reporting to the Operations Support Team and Sr. Procurement Manager, this role requires working closely with the procurement team and department personnel. Applicants must be able to obtain/maintain an active U.S. Security Clearance.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute CPSR-compliant purchase orders based on approved requisitions, proposals, bids, and related documents.
- Lead negotiations using in-depth knowledge of FAR/DFARS regulations, contract law, and guidelines to establish fair pricing and minimize risk.
- Resolve issues related to pricing, quality, scheduling, claims, and payment disputes associated with purchase orders.
- Procure materials and supplies at competitive prices while considering quality, suitability, time constraints, and long-term benefits to the company.
- Monitor, expedite, and close out purchase orders and evaluate supplier performance as needed.
- Process returned materials and ensure credit invoices are received and applied correctly.
- Serve as the primary contact between IDT program personnel and assigned suppliers.
- Prepare, organize, and maintain accurate physical and digital records documenting transactions and compliance with CPSR requirements.
- Regularly communicate with team members and internal customers to ensure smooth operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent full-time professional experience in a related field.
- Minimum three years of experience in a U.S. Government contracting purchasing environment.
- Proven experience in purchasing under CPSR-compliant conditions within an ISO environment.
- In-depth knowledge of FAR regulations and applicable federal laws pertaining to procurement, subcontracting, and contracts.
- Familiarity with Costpoint and strong negotiating skills.
- Advanced typing skills and the ability to draft routine purchasing documents.
- Ability to quickly learn purchasing, contracting concepts, and regulatory guidance.
- Must be eligible to obtain/maintain an active U.S. Security Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using SharePoint.
- Bachelor’s degree with a focus on relevant fields.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills along with excellent customer service, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to thrive in both team environments and independent work settings with a strong sense of ownership and urgency.
