Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic logistics leader to oversee outbound freight operations and fleet management across Fabral. The Director of Logistics is responsible for coordinating the utilization of Fabral’s private fleet of 38 tractors and trailers, optimizing the use of third-party logistics providers, and maximizing backhaul opportunities to increase freight revenue. This role ensures safe, compliant, cost-effective, and reliable transportation operations while driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.


Key Responsibilities:

Outbound Freight & Fleet Operations:

• Lead and manage all outbound freight activities across Fabral locations.

• Optimize utilization of the company-owned fleet of 38 tractors and trailers.

• Coordinate carrier selection and performance for third-party logistics providers.

• Develop and execute strategies to maximize backhauls and generate incremental freight revenue.

• Oversee routing, dispatching, and delivery performance to ensure on-time, cost-effective shipments.

Financial & Strategic Leadership:

• Maintain P&L responsibility for logistics and transportation operations.

• Control freight and fleet operating costs while improving asset utilization.

• Develop logistics KPIs related to safety, service, cost, revenue, and efficiency.

• Support long-term fleet planning, acquisition, and replacement strategies.

Safety, Compliance & Risk Management:

• Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, EPA, and all applicable regulations.

• Partner with Safety and Operations teams to promote a strong safety culture.

• Lead insurance, claims management, and risk mitigation efforts.

• Ensure company drivers and carriers meet all qualification and training requirements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Work closely with Plant Operations, Sales, Customer Service, and Executive Leadership.

• Support delivery reliability and customer satisfaction initiatives.

• Align logistics strategies with production schedules and business objectives.

Continuous Improvement:

• Identify and implement process improvements across logistics and transportation.

• Drive standardization, technology adoption, and best practices.

• Lead data-driven decision-making and root cause analysis for performance issues.

Qualifications & Skills:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.

Experience:

• 15+ years of relevant experience.

• 10+ years in a senior leadership role.

• Strong background in DOT compliance and private fleet operations.

• Experience managing bulk, or heavy industrial transportation preferred.

Skills:

• Proven leadership and team development capabilities.

• Strong analytical, financial, and operational acumen.

• Excellent communication and relationship management skills.

• Experience working with TMS, routing software, and logistics KPIs.
