Company Overview

Our client is a global real estate investment and asset management platform with a diversified portfolio includes Class A office, medical office, residential condominiums, student housing, and hospitality assets across major U.S. markets.

The firm is entering its next stage of growth and is seeking an experienced investment executive to lead deal origination, help shape its acquisition strategy, and expand its U.S. portfolio. This is an opportunity to join a lean, well-capitalized platform with institutional backing and play a central role in building its future investment pipeline.

The Opportunity

The Director of Investments will serve as the platform’s senior deal originator and transaction leader. The firm has strong underwriting and asset management capabilities in place and is now looking for a proven deal professional who can generate opportunities, cultivate market relationships, structure transactions, and lead investments from initial sourcing through closing.

The platform has an established investment thesis but will give this individual meaningful influence over its acquisition criteria, target markets, and overall investment strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a proprietary acquisition pipeline across major U.S. markets
• Source investment opportunities through relationships with owners, brokers, lenders, operators, and capital partners
• Help refine the platform’s investment thesis, acquisition criteria, and market strategy
• Lead the evaluation, structuring, negotiation, due diligence, financing, and closing of new investments
• Negotiate purchase agreements, joint venture structures, financing terms, and other transaction documents
• Evaluate potential acquisitions, recapitalizations, joint ventures, co-investments, and third-party capital opportunities
• Oversee refinancing, disposition, and major repositioning strategies across the existing portfolio
• Lead hold/sell and lease/renovate/redevelop decisions
• Coordinate transaction execution across investments, asset management, finance, legal, property management, and outside advisors
• Oversee acquisition pipeline reporting and internal investment performance tracking
• Present investment opportunities and recommendations to senior leadership and the Investment Committee
• Build and institutionalize investment processes, reporting systems, and internal workflows
• Manage and develop the existing investment team

Qualifications

• Approximately 15+ years or more years of commercial real estate investment experience
• Proven track record of independently originating and closing significant real estate transactions
• Established relationships with brokers, owners, lenders, operators, and institutional capital partners
• Experience sourcing investments in major U.S. gateway markets
• Deep knowledge of office, hospitality, or diversified real estate portfolios
• Strong experience structuring acquisitions, joint ventures, financing, recapitalizations, and dispositions
• Ability to shape an investment strategy rather than simply execute against an established mandate
• Experience managing and developing investment professionals
• Strong financial modeling literacy, including Excel and Argus
• Experience presenting investments to institutional or international Investment Committees
• Ability to operate independently and take ownership within a lean, entrepreneurial platform
• Strong communication, negotiation, leadership, and relationship-building skills

The successful candidate will be a market-facing deal professional who combines investment judgment with a demonstrated ability to originate opportunities.

This is not an underwriting-focused position. The ideal candidate can determine what and where the firm should buy, access opportunities through an established network, structure transactions, secure internal support, and lead deals through closing.

Compensation and Benefits

The final compensation package will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, transaction history, and existing market relationships.
