Our team collaborates across product lines to bring Apple products to life, supporting Hardware Engineering’s R&D teams with world-class prototyping efforts. We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative individual to join our Lab Services team. This role will partner closely with cross-functional teams to maintain our materials library, support raw material requests, and oversee the general organization and inventory of consumable resources for our teams.
Description
The Materials Planner role is a critical part of the fabrication process, ensuring timely procurement of consumables, supplies, and tools to enable fast paced prototype production. The role will partner with teams across Austin, Santa Clara Valley, and Boulder. It is essential for this candidate to be well organized, collaborative, and curious. They will be responsible for driving alignment of tooling, inventory, and processes across multiple sites.
Responsibilities
  • Maintenance of raw materials, supplies, and tooling inventories
  • Vendor onboarding, oversight, and engagement
  • Budget tracking and management of consumable POs (Purchase Orders), Invoicing
  • Corporate Credit Card Orders and reconciliation
  • Maintenance and updates to Lab tooling database, receipt, and entry of shipments
  • Supporting team fabrication material requests using band saw and various shop tools
  • Development and maintenance of process documentation, strategic alignment of processes across multiple sites
  • General organization of common lab areas, and adhoc support to PRL/ADL teams as needed
  • Support of Lab daily shipping and receiving activities
  • Coordination and support of remote teams in California and Boulder labs
Minimum Qualifications
  • College degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience in a customer-facing role
  • Project or program management experience
  • Prior experience in a lab environment
  • Ability to lift up 30 lbs without assistance
  • Basic knowledge of material properties, handling, and applications
  • Willingness to operate a forklift, shop tools, and other pieces of industrial equipment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail
  • Proficient in use of Pages/Excel, Keynote/PowerPoint, calendar management, FileMaker, or other database familiarity
  • Self-starter with ability to juggle conflicting priorities
  • Ability to problem-solve and think clearly and quickly to resolve potential issues
  • Ability and willingness to collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Positive attitude, willingness to offer help, and engage with a large extended team both in person and virtually
