Vice President, Operations and Logistics

We are seeking a VP of Operations & Logistics to oversee all operational, logistics, inventory, traffic, production, and warehouse execution functions for a rapidly growing wholesale home goods company. This leadership role is designed to guide operational strategy, improve process efficiency, and develop a strong culture of accountability and continuous improvement across a 30+ person team.

This executive will report directly to the CEO/President and work closely with the current Director of Operations who oversee logistics/traffic/production and warehouse/order entry/etc.

We are looking for a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced, scaling environment and is ready to move the needle, streamline cross-functional processes, and elevate operational excellence across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

• Lead, mentor, and develop a multi-layered wholesale import and distribution operation inspiring ~30 employees, including Directors of Operations, CSR/Operations team, Inventory Management team, Inbound Logistics/Traffic, Warehouse Execution team, Production Team, EDI/IT.
• Own operational process and execution to ensure on-time inbound & outbound, while delivering best in class service & fulfillment strategies to growing customer base in the US, Canada, Mexico, and UK.

Logistics, Supply Chain, and Warehouse Management

• Oversee complex inbound/outbound warehouse logistics and operational execution across 5 different 3PL partners in US, Canada, UK
• Direct warehouse inventory flow and space management
• Lead import logistics strategy including ocean carrier, forwarder, NVOCC, and drayage for 4,000+ FEU annually (~350 containers per month), and growing – driving annual contract and spot rate strategies.
• Drive performance improvements for Collect and Pre-Paid trucking, increasing on time performance, value-added service, and cost-effective results.
• Ensure best-in-class FOB management and vendor compliance.

Retail & EDI Expertise

• Direct IT operational requirements including EDI/API workflow and order processing.
• Ensure systems accuracy and reporting optimization through AMT.
• Optimize standard reporting and Power-BI reporting tools increasing strategic analysis

Process Optimization & Scaling

• Evaluate and streamline end-to-end operational processes including, order entry, warehouse workflows, production coordination, and freight delivery.
• Build training programs and leadership development pathways for staff.
• Support strategic planning for continued growth and operational sophistication.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of experience in operations and logistics leadership.
• Background in wholesale and similar-sized businesses (home goods preferred; apparel acceptable).
• Experience working in or alongside large sales-driven organizations with structured reporting and KPIs.
• Mandatory Walmart experience including EDI, order processing, and vendor compliance.
• Working knowledge of Home Goods, TJX, Ross, plus. FOB experience, Target and Costco.
• Experience leading Ocean Carrier, Forwarder, NVOCC contracts and spot market strategy.
• Collect and Pre-Paid trucking and drayage, 3PL (no DC) mostly in CA, value added services.
• Strong expertise in supply chain operations, 3PL management, and container logistics.
• Demonstrated success leading large teams (25–40 people) through growth.
• Strong sales and service culture, increasing revenue while reducing operating costs.
• Hands-on leadership style with willingness to engage in daily operations.
