About The Role
Ampere is seeking a visionary and results-driven Senior Director, Global Procurement & Strategic Sourcing to lead our worldwide procurement function. This is a critical leadership role requiring a minimum of 15 years of progressive, hands-on experience in strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, and supply chain optimization within a high-tech, semiconductor, or cloud infrastructure environment.
The Senior Director will be instrumental in architecting and executing a global procurement strategy that ensures supply chain resilience, drives aggressive cost leadership, fosters strategic supplier partnerships (particularly across Asia), and supports Ampere's rapid product innovation and growth objectives. You will lead and mentor a high-performing team, influence executive-level decisions, and champion procurement as a strategic business partner across all engineering, product, operations, and corporate functions.
What You’ll Achieve:
Key Responsibilities
  • Global Procurement Strategy & Vision:
    • Develop, implement, and continuously refine a comprehensive global procurement strategy that aligns directly with Ampere's corporate objectives, product roadmap, and financial goals.
    • Identify and capitalize on market trends, geopolitical shifts, and emerging technologies (e.g., AI in procurement, automation) to future-proof Ampere's supply chain and drive competitive advantage.
    • Champion the adoption of best practices in category management, strategic sourcing, and supply chain risk mitigation across all direct and indirect spend.
  • Cost Leadership & Value Creation:
    • Own and deliver aggressive cost savings and total cost of ownership (TCO) reductions across a multi-billion dollar spend portfolio, covering direct materials (semiconductors, components), indirect goods, and critical services.
    • Implement robust financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting for procurement, providing transparent reporting on savings, value delivery, and ROI to senior leadership.
    • Drive demand management initiatives, value engineering, and strategic supplier consolidation to optimize spend and enhance efficiency.
  • Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Ecosystem Management (with Asia focus):
    • Lead and optimize the entire strategic sourcing lifecycle for key direct and indirect categories, including in-depth market analysis, competitive bidding (RFI/RFQ/RFP), complex contract negotiation, and robust supplier selection.
    • Cultivate and nurture strategic, long-term relationships with Ampere's critical global suppliers, particularly across the Asia supply chain, driving collaborative innovation, quality improvements, and supply continuity.
    • Develop and implement a world-class Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) program, including performance scorecards, QBRs, and joint development initiatives.
  • Supply Chain Resilience & Risk Mitigation:
    • Design and implement a robust global supply chain risk management framework, proactively identifying and mitigating risks related to geopolitical events, capacity constraints, material shortages, lead time fluctuations, and NPI ramp-up.
    • Ensure business continuity for critical components and services, developing comprehensive contingency plans and dual-sourcing strategies where appropriate.
    • Champion sustainable and ethical sourcing practices, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and Ampere's corporate social responsibility commitments.
  • Team Leadership & Talent Development:
    • Build, lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing global procurement organization, fostering a culture of strategic thinking, analytical rigor, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
    • Establish clear performance metrics, development plans, and succession strategies for the team.
    • Promote cross-functional collaboration and knowledge sharing within the procurement team and across the broader organization.
  • Executive Influence & Cross-Functional Partnership:
    • Serve as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to Ampere's Engineering, Product Management, Operations, Finance, and Legal teams, embedding procurement early in the product lifecycle and strategic planning processes.
    • Influence C-suite level decision-making through data-driven insights, strategic recommendations, and compelling presentations.
    • Oversee and negotiate complex commercial agreements, master service agreements (MSAs), and statements of work (SOWs) with strategic suppliers, partnering closely with legal counsel to manage risk and ensure favorable terms.
  • Governance & Process Excellence:
    • Establish and continuously refine procurement policies, procedures, and governance frameworks to ensure compliance, transparency, efficiency, and scalability across Ampere's global operations.
    • Drive the implementation and optimization of advanced procurement technologies (e.g., P2P automation, e-sourcing tools) to streamline processes and enhance data visibility.
About You:
  • Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Finance, or a related field. Master's degree (MBA or relevant advanced degree) is highly preferred.
    • Minimum of 15 years of progressive leadership experience in global procurement, strategic sourcing, and supply chain management.
    • Demonstrated expertise within the semiconductor, high-tech, cloud infrastructure, or data center industry is highly preferred, with a strong understanding of direct materials (e.g., silicon, complex assemblies) and associated supply chains.
    • Proven track record of managing multi-billion dollar spend categories and delivering significant, measurable cost savings and value.
    • Extensive experience managing complex supplier relationships and negotiations across Asia (e.g., Taiwan, China, Korea, Japan) and other global regions.
    • Experience leading and developing global, diverse teams.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Deep expertise in strategic sourcing methodologies, category management (direct and indirect), complex contract negotiation, and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) principles.
    • Strong understanding of global logistics, trade compliance, and supply chain risk management frameworks.
    • Proficiency with modern procurement technologies (e.g., SAP Ariba, Coupa, Oracle, P2P systems) and advanced analytics tools.
    • Expert-level financial analysis, business case development, and budget management skills.
  • Leadership & Strategic Capabilities:
    • Exceptional executive presence, with superior communication (written, verbal, presentation) and influencing skills, capable of engaging and building consensus with C-suite and senior stakeholders.
    • Proven ability to build, lead, mentor, and motivate high-performing, geographically dispersed teams.
    • Strategic visionary with an entrepreneurial mindset, capable of identifying and capitalizing on emerging opportunities and driving organizational change.
